What is bliss?
Well by definition bliss is perfect happiness, great joy, pleasure, delight, ecstasy, elation, rapture and euphoria.
WOW! That sounds pretty amazing and I may have felt two or three of those in moments of my life but come on that sounds too good to be true on a daily basis.
Bliss to me (a yogi) is a perfectly balanced day. It’s where I rise to meditate, get my son off to school, go to work then practice yoga or get outside for a hike or a ride then eat food that nourishes me, rest and then spend time with my family.
It’s this sense of balance in my body, breath, mind and soul. Where I feel everything feels ok.
Now that perfectly balanced day does not happen every day. But when I make choices throughout my day that leads me down that path I feel my bliss.
Life isn’t perfect, as a matter of fact life can be pretty darn hard at times but if we can remember to do the things that give us that feeling in the midst of our busy and sometimes very painful lives then I believe we have a chance to feel happiness, joy, pleasure and contentment.
I can’t tell you what your bliss is. It’s different for each person. All I can do is encourage you to find it and make time for it every day. Find your balance between movement and rest, work and play. Choose to make you a priority! You are the most important person in your life and no one can lead you to your happiness or help you create your bliss except for yourself.
So I ask you, what’s your bliss?
